Readers Spooky Encounters: The Munitions Factory Girl

This one is a fabulous spooky tale.

Jennie from Lancashire said this about her ghostly encounter:

Night Job

In 1988 I was working as a cleaner at Philips Components in the evenings whilst I was studying graphic design at Southport College.

I started smoking at 15 years old so me and my friend met at the end of the factory on the first floor by Quality Control, and sat on the top of the stairs for a skive (that’s slacking off in northern talk) with our backs to the wall and the stairs coming up in front of us.

We were chatting away about heavy metal music and I happened to look down the stairs which had big windows to the side of them.

A Ghostly Apparition

All of a sudden I saw a woman. She was like a mist but on the inside of the building. She was gliding up the stairs and saw us sitting there, then she turned and went back down.

Thinking nothing of it and that it was just my imagination I carried on talking to my friend. That was until my friend, Liz, asked ‘did you see that?’

As soon as she said that I screamed and ran from one end of the factory to the other. Liz was quite big busted and struggling to keep up. She shouted at me ‘don’t leave me!!’

But I was gone.

Sleeping With The Light On

I couldn’t sleep without my bedroom light on for weeks because of the ghost.

At work, the full time workers kept stopping me and saying ‘I believe you’ve seen the ghost?’ Not a ghost, but the ghost.

Apparently the factory was a munitions factory during the war and the girl was someone who had died and used to sell roses to the workers in there.

A Real Genuine Ghost?

So what do we think?

It’s very difficult to say a ghost isn’t real when two people see the same thing without having talked or thought about it previously.

There is an experiment that scientifically proves that the collective mind can physically conjure up a ghost, but this experiment relied on everyone knowing a full and varied back story to their ghost and wanting it to appear.

A very spooky tale indeed.

Keep them coming!
