Even though Sceptic is still in its infancy, I’ve been getting a lot of emails asking me a lot of questions. I really appreciate every email I get – even the shitty ones – so keep them coming because I do try to answer them all.
There are two main things that people have been asking about.
The first one is, ‘how can you call yourself a sceptic when you seem to acknowledge that some things are paranormal?’
The answer to this is that I do not believe in the paranormal, but I’m absolutely open to the possibility. I would love for any aspect of it all to be proven but so far I’ve discovered nothing. There has always been a very normal explanation for something that has been portrayed as a ghost or possession or clairvoyance. I’m not easily convinced by these things. I would very much like to be though.
So if you think you can show me absolute proof that anything paranormal exists then I’ll happily convert. Until then I’m strictly on the fence. I love haunted houses because I love old buildings. And I love ghost stories because I love it when the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get shivers. This is a normal fear response and more to do with me being invested in the tale I’m being told than anything else. I’m also currently researching UFOs and aliens for my next article and I completely believe that we are definitely not the only beings in the universe. It would be so ridiculous to think that we are. But do I think aliens have visited earth? No I don’t.
The second question that I’m getting asked a lot is what I wanted to ask about the Amityville haunting and everything that happened there. And my question is this – did George Lutz buy 112 Ocean Avenue purely for the purpose of inventing a haunting? And I am veering towards yes, I think he did. There is too much information from Ronald De Feo and his lawyer, and other people who spoke with the Lutzes about their time in the house that points to this conclusion.
So there you have it. I am a sceptic who is open to change, but this isn’t going to happen unless I have proof.
I have much more evidence on its way that may make you cross over to my side of the fence, so watch this space.
Keep emailing me in the meantime.
